Each spring, floral designers from all over the Midwest descend upon Milwaukee, at the chance to create floral sculpture, interpreting a piece of artwork from the museum's collection. This year, they changed it up a bit- we made flower dresses...
Riffing on the incredible work of NYC Fashion Designer Katherine Feiner, http://www.katherinefeiner.com/. We shared the runway with select floral pieces and her 2015-16 Spring/Summer Collection. The palette of my design was inspired by her floral print "Secret Garden" used in many of her pieces.
The top was made by hand with more than 1500 tiny pieces of flat reed, as were the booties. The skirt was made of black organically dyed plumosa.
We should have runway photos and *maybe* even video in the coming weeks! Stay tuned!
