Hey guys! So I've got a huge backlog of blog posts to get out, I've been turbo lazy about it and now I'm going to power through them all!
This year, I was asked by the Society of American Florists to give a series of design programs at the travelling One-Day Profit Blast programs they give all over the country each year. Smithers-Oasis, my sponsor, and I worked together to craft a design show that would connect with designers of all ages, and to highlight the major greening initiatives that our industry and namely, Oasis, has adopted in the past few years.
Here's the headline- "OASIS FOAM IS NOW BIODEGRADABLE!!"
I demonstrated how to troubleshoot a common situation we designers encounter with brides and their mothers.
Mom wants 'A,' the Bride wants 'Z" and we try and get them to meet in the middle. The mother's dream bouquet was an all white, traditional bouquet. The bride's dream bouquet is a monolith of a cascade in vibrant colors. The compromise bouquet, ideal for both is a loose handtied made on an aluminum mesh armature.
In this program I also speak about cause-based designs, and how finding a local cause celebre to get behind can bump up the profile of your business. My design is the Blue Water Droplet, a piece designed as a fund-raiser for the Flint Water Crisis.
Next stop on the tour is Boston on September 23rd, hope to see you there!
